post-college post

faces! I need lots more practice with drawing human faces well so I went and found some on flickr.com to draw from. I'll definitely be doing this a lot more.

some designs I did at internship for a Veterans' Day mascot! the pigeon and eagle were kind of fun but the dog's my favourite. he was inspired by the war dog Smoky, a Yorkshire Terrier that became an indispensable war dog -- pretty incredible for a so-called "lap dog" toy type.

and finally, art imitating life:

oh and I am 23 now. yay!

Cute stuff, Shells! Awesome job on the human faces, I really like the sailor(?) and man with the pipe. Those mascots are so cute! I've always loved the reference sheets you make for your characters. And the last image - d'aww! ;x3 You'll find something soon, especially since you mentioned working as internship for a bit. You have my %110 support! ♥

What medium did you use to draw the last picture, by the way? It looks digital but I can't tell exactly.

xx!

Maz -- aww, thank you muchly sweets. all my stuff is drawn in Photoshop really unless stated otherwise -- it's really all I use! I'm trying to get better with vectoring in Flash and such, though! :D

Spamalot -- tell that one to the economy. x_x; my class picked a hell of a time to graduate.

Kaukab -- thank you!! :D yeah I know a lot of it is due to my own anxiety/confidence issues and that's something I gotta just grit my teeth and deal with. people say as long as you keep honing your skills then that's some productivity right there and I realised I needed to quit fretting and drawdrawdraw! I'm bummed that we have conflicting schedules right now, I'd really like to get together for a drawing session. :)

Ah Shelley, I love those character designs! I agree, the little terrier is my favorite as well.

Drawing faces from photos is always fun! Those look great, with information from the photograph, but still very recognizable as your style.

The little terrier is certainly my favourite too! His scruffy face and slightly-too-large helmet are very endearing!
Hope you get a job soo
